Welsh Assembly Government

Space saving flexibility

Brief:

The Welsh Assembly Government needed to reduce real estate costs and recognised that this could be effectively achieved through the introduction of a flexible working programme, which involved consolidating employees into one new building in Cathays Park, Llandudno.

Solutions:

With desk footprints reduced and each desk becoming a shared workstation, pedestals were no longer an option. Each employee, whether permanently based in the office or itinerant, now has a Bisley MySpace locker. InnerSpace mobile shelving is also used for the efficient and safe storage of confidential documents.

Results:

The organisation now operates on a desk sharing ratio of 8:10, and once sick leave, holidays and working patterns are accounted for 7.2:10 can be achieved. This represents significant savings and rejuvenated, dynamic working environment for the employees of the Welsh Assembly Government.
