Five Minutes With... Tona Berruecos

Mar 8, 2024|

In ‘Five Minutes With…’ we share the stories of our Bisley colleagues and business partners, allowing you to get to know them a little better. In this feature, we talk to Tona Berruecos, our Territory Manager in Philadelphia and Washington DC, as she discusses what Bisley North America are focusing on this year and the professional achievements she is most proud of.

Can you tell us a little about your role at Bisley?

I spend a lot of my working day interacting with design practices and dealers across Philadelphia, DC, and Mexico to develop mutually beneficial relationships that result in new business for Bisley, which is always exciting! I also work closely with each client to develop a range of solutions that meet their individual needs.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

I start by checking my emails and review my to-do-list for the day ahead. This can vary greatly from Zoom calls, visiting design practices and dealers, taking and making calls to dealers and design practices, conducting presentations, and then spending a great deal of my time fully learning and understanding each client’s individual needs. I’ll then work to generate appropriate quotes for the work that’ll be undertaken. As you can see, there’s a great variety to what I do but I absolutely love it – no two days are ever the same!

Why did you want to work in the furniture industry?

Since graduating with a BA in Industrial Design, I’m passionate about everything related to design and quality. I started my professional life designing furniture for a Science Museum in Mexico City, and from there, I have continued to work and progress in the furniture industry. I thoroughly enjoy my role at Bisley as it embraces my passion for furniture and design.

Does your subsidiary have a goal for the year ahead? If so, what are they?

Yes – we have several goals for the year ahead. We hope to bring a range of new clients to us and continue to work hard to grow throughout the USA, Canada, and Mexico. We want to raise brand awareness as much as we possibly can!

What makes you proud to be a woman working in the furniture and manufacturing industries?

I’m incredibly proud to be a part of the Bisley team. With its international prestige, I feel very proud, and this motivates me as a woman to always strive for excellence.

Do you have any professional achievements that you’re able to share with us?

Thanks to the trust and support from the Bisley North America team, we have been able to open market opportunities in Mexico which was a huge professional goal of mine and a fantastic Group achievement.

Do you have or know an inspirational quote that you can share in support for International Women’s Day? Can you share it with us, please?

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change” Charles Darwin.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Bisley?

I love the people and the love that everyone has towards the company.
