Bisley recognised with ‘Best of Best’ in the Furniture Category at the Iconic Awards

Jan 17, 2020|

BOB, the beautifully hand-crafted modular storage and display system from Bisley, has been awarded ‘Best of Best’ at the Iconic Awards.

Developed in collaboration with award winning designer Paul Kelley, BOB’s infinite configurations can be adapted for any use and environment, whether at home or in the workplace. The collaboration unifies Kelley’s design innovations with the craftsmanship and manufacturing expertise of Bisley.

The Iconic Awards 2020: Innovative Interior are awarded by the German Design Council – one of the world’s leading organisations for expertise in design – in order to support, enhance and showcase design expertise throughout Germany and the rest of the world.

The winners are first chosen by a jury of design leading industry experts, each of which has an extensive background in Design. The panel must ensure that each submission meets the criteria of excellence in design, materials, manufacture and function.

The awards evening was held on Sunday 12th January in the historic Kuntsverein in Cologne. It marked not only the opening of the week-long Iconic Awards exhibition, but also the start of a new design year in Germany. Around 200 design specialists attended the evening, where Paul Kelley and Greg Aspinall, Director of International Sales, accepted the prestigious award.

Out of 550 applicants, only 30 were chosen to receive a ‘Best of Best’ award, and Bisley was the only UK company to receive such an accolade.

The exhibition of the winning products runs from 13th – 19th January 2020 and the organisers expect a healthy foot fall of a few thousand design professionals to attend. The public is invited to see the winning projects first-hand and participate in a variety of workshops, presentations and guided tours. You can read more about it here.

BOB, a first all wood product for Bisley, is meticulously hand crafted and features a clever system that uses magnets to securely lock the modules together. The beauty is in the simplicity and playfulness of the design; cubes and units click together to form different arrangements, allowing the user to change the design of the system instantly, whenever they choose.

Helen Owen, Marketing Director at Bisley commented: “We couldn’t be happier that BOB has received an Iconic Award, particularly in the ‘Best of Best’ category. BOB was launched less than a year ago and since then it has picked up three prestigious industry awards, so it’s great to see such a unique project for Bisley doing so well. Together with Paul Kelley, we’ve got some exciting plans for BOB in 2020 – I’m really looking forward to showcasing what more we have to offer”.

Paul Kelley added: “I’ve spent the last 18 months or so working with Bisley to bring BOB to the market and it has been very rewarding to see it grow. We have created a great new product and, as a designer, it’s a huge honour for me to be recognised by the German Design Council. It makes all the hard work very worthwhile.”

This win is a third for BOB, having also received a ‘Product of the Year’ award at the Mixology Awards and the Design Guild Mark in May 2019.
