Salalah Airport

Salalah Airport is the Sultanate of Oman's second gateway. Owned and managed by Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), the airport became operational in 1977 and has seen a rapid increase in passenger numbers since 2005 when Salalah began to be promoted as a tourist destination. This rise in traffic is expected to continue and a new terminal is being built that will eventually have the capacity for one million passengers annually.

With future-proofing in mind Bisley was chosen to supply office and storage furniture for this new terminal building because of the variety of solutions required. Alexandre Maksimov , Senior FF&E Specialist at OAMC said “The flexibility of Bisley’s product range meant the airport managed to meet the demand for capacity and staff service level”.

The airport provides changing room facilities for over 1200 people.  These are in constant use by employees from all over the airport; from restaurant and duty free staff to the customs teams and the on-site police officers.  With limited room for changing facilities and future expansion plans, the challenge for the airport and Bisley was to make the most of the available space. MonoBloc Lockers with integrated benches were the answer. The utility-style lockers are strong and durable, making them ideal for high-traffic locations and the incorporated benches make sure floor space is used efficiently. The lockers are colour-coded per department and as an added benefit, employees do not need to worry about carrying a key during their working day as each locker is completed with a digital lock.  This also simplifies the re-allocation of lockers.

The office areas were supplied with InnerSpace mobile shelving to provide high density storage using minimal floor space. Two door cupboards, LateralFile and SystemFile added to the storage options and each desk is supplied with an integrated pedestal to provide a level of personal storage.  The advantage of the combination units selected is that the internal fixings can be chosen to suit individual requirements giving maximum flexibility whilst maintaining a clean and consistent external appearance.
